Hello,
I have requirement where in a site http://www.example.com will be hosted on Windows server andhttps://www.example.com/register on Linux server. I have done the IIS setup referring URL - http://improve.dk/routing-requests-for-a-subdirectory-to-another-server-using-iis-application-request-routing/ and able to route http traffic to Linux server.I have WDS installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 machine. I can quite happily import Windows 7 Install images from the Windows 7 installation DVD, but if I try to import from the Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 installation DVD, at sources\install.wim, I
get:
"The file does not contain a valid install image"
If I run WDSUTIL from the command line I get:
"An install image could not be found in the image file".
I believe that the DVD is fine as I can install machines from it and mount the sources\install.wim file using DISM.
Anyone any idea what's wrong?
Note that the problem is not with my own images, it's with the image as supplied on media direct from Microsoft.
Hello --
One of our servers experienced an unexpected shutdown several days ago. The subsequent restart of the server resulted in several of the drive letters being changed. This resulted in the SQL Server, 2008, databases not being otherwise available due to the changes in the drive letter locations of the log files.
A check of the Event Viewer indicated some problems connecting to a disk array system via the iSCSI initiator, but there nothing beyond that to indicate why the shutdown occurred, or the drive changes occurred.
I had several questions concerning this situation:
1. Aside from the Event Viewer, is there another place where I can look for clues as to why the shutdown occurred?
2. Why would the drive letters be changed after the reboot was completed?
Trying to move the kms server to a 2008 r2 server. Need to find the key. I tried
cd %systemroot%\system32
cscript slmgr.vbs /dli all
from:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/e688b0fb-f4dc-4f90-b60f-ae614163a193/kms-server-find-currently-registerd-produc-keys?forum=winservergen
but that didn't work. Is there any way to do this on an SBS 2003 R2 server?
WE have JUST installed Windows 2012 Server.
We have three (3) clients connected. They were on Windows SBS 2003.
After binding the workstations to the new domain (yes, there was a domain name change as well)
the computers are (all three (3)) are ALWAYS two (2) hours slow from correct time.
The server shows the correct time, Any Ideas??
Thanks,
eric H.

Our Autounattend for Windows 8 does not work for 8.1. Below is the Autounattend script I thought would work, but it gives error about not being able to create partition and the installation stops? Anybody know what I might be missing?

It's probably something simple, but can't figure it out. I'm trying to create an image for our tablets and hope to be able to save it either using Ghost or Acronis.
Hi all,
We are attempting to combine data currently stored in local sql server from several VAMT installs into a single database on a SQL Server 2008.
We export the data into a cilx file from the local database, change the VAMT connection to the new server database successfully, then try to import the file back into that new database. We get the error:
The MERGE statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_ActiveProduct_AvailableProduct". The conflict occurred in database "VAMT", table "base.AvailableProduct".
Being a database guy, I can see that the problem is that there is a missing reference key from AvailableProduct when the script attempts to load products into ActiveProduct.
Has anybody found a way around this? We have tried first importing a Products Only file, but that got the same error. I am considering having to reorder the stored procedure that loads the data, although I don't much like the idea of having to rewrite black box code.
Thanks,
Reinis

Hi,
I would like to prepare a virtual image of Microsoft Windows Server including my own software, so that the image is prepared to be ready to run. I do not want my own software to be scripted installed, but everything shall be prepared to be just installed in a virtual datacenter of my customer. Of course I would SysPrep the image in a way that it would not contain any Microsoft license keys.
Is it allowed by Microsoft to provide virtual images to my clients, as long as my clients assure they would apply a correct license to the server images, once they have received them?
Thanks for your help!
Hi all,
A customer runs Windows Server 2012 on a rather old HP ProLiant G4 server. Trying to upgrade the server to 2012 R2 fails, and the compatiblity report shows the following:
Windows won't install unless (bla bla).
Make these changes:
Install updated drivers for the following devices (bla bla)
Storage controllers: Smart Array 6i Controller (Media Driver)
I was unable to find more detailed information on why this driver works on Windows Server 2012, but is deemed incompatible with 2012 R2. The setupact.log file did not provide any more information either.
Trying to replace the 2012 driver from Microsoft with the Windows x64 HP-driver (from 2008, probably made for Windows Server 2008) only leads to the server crashing at boot. Using last good known configuration fixes it.
So I have to questions:
1. Is there any other setup log file that might shed light on why the Smart Array 6i driver is blocking setup?
2. Does anyone know why a driver that works in 2012 is not compatible for 2012 R2?
Thanks for reading, help appreciated.

Hi, how can I deploy Windows 7 in a laptop with the OS partition encripted with the bitlocker. I don´t found clear manuals en the internet. I need to encript the partition before to capture the image with the WDS, or may be the WDS can encript the partition after to create in the deployment procedure adding some line in the unnatend.xml, I set my partitions in the xml but I don´t found information about this in internet.
Thanks for the help.
Hi everyone!
I'm not able to add Win 8.1 KMS key to VAMT 2.0.67.0. When i trying to do that i get error: "The product key you entered is not supported. Check the key and try again. If you have verified that the product key is correct, you may need to update this version of VAMT."
Key is correct. Patch KB2885698 is installed. Should I update VAMT? Any ideas?
No matter what Browser I use or how I download MDT 2013 64Bit during the installation procces it errors as follows.
The instruction at 0x771185cb referenced memory at 0x0f517117. The memory could not be read.
I am running server 2012 R2 on a 2500k with 16gb Ram + 120 SSD
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Trying to migrate from 2008 to 2012 R2. I have installed powershell 2.0 and have 40GB of diskspace in my 2008 which is a new install; I did not configure a static IP address for it and it is running on a VM as a bridged network.
My 2012 server is on bare-metal and I typed the cmdlts:
smigdeploy /package /architecture x86 /os WS08 /path \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\mig
Yes my 2008 is a 32-bit server and "MIG" is the folder I created on my C: drive on my 2008 for the migration package to be deployed, however after typing the cmdlts in my 2012 server I receive this message:
Error: The Windows Server Migration Tools deployment folder could not be created
. Verify that you are logged on by using an account that has permissions to crea
te the folder, that there is sufficient disk space on the destination computer t
o create the deployment folder, and that a file of the same name as folders in t
he specified path does not exist.
Obviously the folder does exist and there is sufficient disk space. I did share the C: drive in my 2008 and have network discovery on both servers. Do I need to add my server 2008 to an Active Directory or domain? My domain for 2008 is "WORKGROUP" while my 2012 has a static IP in a specified domain.
Any help would be great. How do I get the package to deploy?
Thanks in advance.
Hi!
I posted this issue in the Windows 7 networking forum initially when I wasn't sure that it was MDT that caused this problem. I'm not sure how to move a thread so I'll just link to it from here:
Hope you guys can help!
Cheers,
I'm baffled. I've added boot.wim from 8.1 RTM and 2012 R2 RTM to a new WDS installation. The default language is en-us according to the file properties in WDS, but it errors out on the client with: failed to set the selected language as the UI language. I cannot set it to en-us. It works for any other English variant - just not the US. I can get it work, for example, as English (Canada) with a US input. But not English (united states).
