Loading the boot image via WDS 2012R2 (installed on SCCM 2012 R2) takes about a minute for a 300 MB boot image on a 10 GB unsaturated netowrk.
SCCM version: 1606
Have seen various reports that configuring the following keys improves the speed:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\DP
Name: RamDiskTFTPWindowSize
Location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\DP
Name: RamDiskTFTPBlockSize
These keys have been tested on the Distribution Point hosting PXE/WDS, but do not seem to have an impact. This keys were taken from:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt627944.aspx#BKMK_RamDiskTFTP (updated 9/8/16)
However, in https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt706227.aspx (updated 5/5/16), the article makes reference to a slightly different location for the keys (which our DP does not have):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\PXE Name: RamDiskTFTPWindowSize
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\PXE Name: RamDiskTFTPBlockSize
So which one is correct, and what are the possible values for each?
