I have a strange one here...
I am using WDS on Windows Server 2012 R2.
I have had chronic issues with WDS working then not working for no apparent reason.
I have been deploying Intel NUC hardware with a Windows 8.1 custom image and when it works, it does so perfectly. When it does not work, I get the following sequence:
Boot to network with f12
DHCP server gives an address and refers to WDS server to load WDSNBP
WDS responds and downloads WDSNBP
No Response from WDS Server
When I check the WDS logs, I see that I sometimes get Error 1306 where the workstation is requesting an x86 image. The only image I have ever used on any workstation with WDS is x64. I have done the command in WDSUTIL and set the default for X64 and only have x64 items set in WDS Server properties.
Again, when it works, it works great. I can run thru devices just as fast as I can connect them and get them started. But when it does not work, nothing I can do seems to help. Then without notice, it will start working again in a day or so, without any reboots of servers or any other changes being made.
Does anybody have any ideas on what to look at or which direction to start troubleshooting? I would be pulling hair out if I had any......
