Windows Server 2008 install on HP DL380 G5
dism - The directory could not be completely unmounted - process explorer can't find open processes and unmounting fails
Installed WAIK on server 2008 R2 64 bit. I'm setting up some boot images, and am having a real hard time getting drivers to integrate into the driver store in the boot images.
What I'm finding is that when adding drivers to the boot image the gui hangs part way through over 50% of the time using Dell 760 or HP NX9420 drivers extracted to pull out the inf files. It's really flakey and will work after a couple of attempts and when the wind is right.
The main problem is that when the process fails the image is left open, so using dism to list mounted images and then umount the open images is the only way to try again.
However, some images won't unmount and the unmount process displays the following:

Rebooting the server clears the lock, but it's really becoming a joke, as I can create a boot image with the drivers, but then going back into add another driver causes the gui to not respond.
Any suggestions gratefully accepted. - Matt.
pxe-e16: no offer received for uefi client computers
anyone getting pxe-e16: no offer received for uefi client computers?
start pxe over ipv4
station ip address is xxx.xxx.xxx.xx
pxe-e16: no offer received
start pxe over ipv6
using same computer and change to bootmode to legacy but it has no problem boot to pxe.
dhcp is distributed by router with ip helper-address [ip address of sccm dp]. wds service is installed is sccm dp.
both router, sccm dp, pxe boot client are in the same network segement.
tried below 2 methods but it doesn't help.
1. disable NetBIOS over tcp/ip
2. reinstall wds to standalone mode
Windows could not apply unattend settings during pass [specialize] - Windows 10
I have done a lot of searching on this issue and I have seen a lot of similar posts but most of what I have come across contains the specific section the specialize pass fails on (i.e. Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup) and the error log points directly to a particular setting in the answer file. I am not seeing the same type of information.
Let me provide some background. I'm deploying images for my organization via WDS with answer files generated with WSIM. My problem pertains to my Windows 10 image. About every 3 months I revisit the image to apply Windows updates and install software as needed. My process goes as such, I have installed W10 on a Hyper-V VM and from there I make the necessary changes, sysprep and pull it up to WDS via a capture image. The image was created in March 2016 and I refreshed it in June and September without any issues. This time everything continued to work correctly until after WDS installs the image and the system reboots, the install fails with "Windows could not apply unattend settings during pass [specialize]."
The image is W10 Pro x64. The only changes to the image/answer file from the previous refresh are as follows.
-C++ installed (2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, vNext) - Requested in the image from the systems admin
-A handful of Windows security updates
-only change to the answer file is a different initial admin password which is in the OOBE pass.
Everything else remains the same from the image and answer file as it was in September.
I'm attaching the specialize portion of my answer file and the unattend section of the setupact log. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. If this is posted in an incorrect location or the solution to my particular problem exists in another thread I apologize. I do want to re-iterate though that I have searched through quite a few forums with very similar issues but without the log information I am seeing or more specific information to particular answer file settings.
I have tried the following.
-I have used the new answer file with the September image, no issues.
-I have used the old answer file with the new image, same issue with the specialize pass.
-I tried changing and removing the DisableAntiSpyware setting as that is the only thing I saw in the logs that is mentioned the answer file.
-I tried changing and removing CopyProfile since that seems to have been a problem source for others.
-I reverted my VM several times and made sure to only install C++ and Windows updates with no other changes.
-I checked all the settings from the specialize pass that I could to make sure they weren't already set like they are in answer file.
It would seem that something else has changed in the image that I am not aware of but I'll be darned if I know what that might be.

Centrally managing multiple Windows Deployment servers
We have a bunch of branch offices we want to configure and setup windows deployment services on windows server 2008r2/2012.
We only want to have to create 1 image at head office and add drivers/windows updates to that image. Once that is completed we would replicate it using DFSR to all other branch offices. If we add the device drivers to the boot image and replicate the boot folder and the images folder (where all images we have are located) to all other WDS servers, if we update the images or add new device drivers in the future to those boot files, will DFSR replicate those changes to the branch office WDS servers as well saving us from doing this process multiple times?
Would MDT 2016 perform this process for us as well?
Issues with WDS Capture image after injecting network driver
I am trying to get a WDS server setup and running and am running into an issue when trying to create a capture image with a network driver. If I boot the system from a standard capture image, with no network driver, I can get into the WinPE environment without any issues but cannot connect to the WDS server because of the lack of a network driver. If I manually add the driver after booting from the capture image it works fine.
I decided that I would try to inject the driver into the capture image using the WDS so that it would automatically load when booting and I wouldn't have to do it manually. When booting from the capture image with the injected network driver, I see the Windows loading screen for a few seconds and then it goes to a blank screen. I have tried this on Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2016 Tech Preview 3. I have tried with the boot.wim from Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10, using the appropriate network driver for each one.
I know that I have the correct network drivers because if I load them manually from a standard capture image, they work fine. Has anyone else run into this?

optiplex3040/Win10 - cannot connect to deployment share
I use wds to load windows 7 images onto our Dell PCs. I am able to do this successfully.
We recently purchased Dell OptiPlex 3040 that came with Windows10. I am not able to connect to the deployment share with these PCs. I do not know if this is a windows10 issue, or an OptiPlex 3040 issue. The following is the message I receive when I attempt to image the PC:
A connection to the deployment share (\\server\deploymentshare$) could not be made. The following networking device did not have a driver installed. PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_06BB1028&REV_15.
I've updated drivers on the OptiPlex 3040. I've updated drivers on the server. I imported dells cab drivers to my deployment workbench, updated the deployment share, and replaced the boot image. I've done all of these steps many times over.
I just am not able to make a connection to the deployment share with this PC (or other identical PCs) but I am able to successfully image older dell OptiPlex models with Windows7 currently on them.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Group policy for Quick Access pins
Hi am working on a new Windows Server 2016 acting as a Domain Controller. I would like to deploy Quick Access 'pins' via Group Policy show that network shares are automatically applied to around 100+ users.
***We are not using drive mappings in this instance and Quick Access pins must be used***
I have been trying to add a 'shortcut' in user policy but can not seem to find a way to get the shortcut to appear in the Quick Access.
Am I missing something or is this not doable?
MDT 2013 cannot update deployment share
I downloaded our volume license iso of windows 7 from Microsoft then extracted it using 7 zip. In MDT, created a new windows 7 capture under operating system. Next I created a task sequence. When I go to update the MDT 2013 deployment share I get error below.
The windows 7 version was 64 bit.
Server is fully patched and is running Microsoft Server 2012 R2. Can you advise what I can do to get around this error below so I can start to evaluate MDT.

Windows software deployment
This is Satyadeep.
1. Although I could install in about 5-6 laptops, the process did not work
for 3 laptops.
2. During uninstall, Firefox is not visible in control panel programs and features.
3. Also, if the installation is repeated a second time on a laptop with firefox
installed earlier through software deployment, installation is not working.
To do this, I have removed laptop from domain and added again a second
time for installation.
Having serious issues with new customer deployment, ftp failing
can you advise me on issue with ftp_utilities, I am told it will not work on an azure 2012r2 vm so my question is will 2008r2
there is an app called buildpro that is actually doing this work, we run a sql agent job that uses ftp_utilities to call ftp.exe, this contacts the ftp server but returns a response that GetDirectorycontents failed. we can connect just fine with filezilla
server is 2012r2 azure instance, app is constellation home builder with buildpro

SFC problem - "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service"
We are trying to attempt to fix a Windows 2008 start up problem. We boot the machine from a Windows 2008 CD and go to the repair tool - command prompt.
When we do the command sfc /scannow, we are getting
"Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service"
We did some researches there someone suggested the trustedinstaller is not running so we tried to do a net start trustedinstaller.
But We are getting
"The windows modulers instaler service is starting
The windows modulers instaler service is starting could not be started
A system error has occured
System error 1067 has occured
The process terminated unexpectedly. "
Anyone can give us an idea to see why we can not run the sfc the first place. Thanks
WDS (Windows Deployment Service) and DHCP on Server 2008 R2
I am trying to capture a custom windows image through WDS and then use WDS to deploy the same image back to other machines. I have some issue while doing this.
Although I have setup the WDS, and have added an image on it to deploy, the reference computer can't seem to find the DHCP server when I try to PXE/network boot. When I press F12, it says it is networking booting(well, trying to) and then says something like 'contact with DHCP was not made or something'. I want to understand what exactly needs to be in the DHCP on server for the reference computer to search and recognize the WDS server.
I think both the DHCP and WDS are on same server 2008 R2, not separate.
For WDS (or being able to boot to see an imaging service), you will have to tell the DHCP server what DHCP ‘options’ it needs to hand out to all clients so they are able to see the WDS server when prompted by the user to do so. What options do you need setup in DHCP for any machine to be able to see your WDS server? CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT WITH THIS. THANK YOU.......
