Anyhow, so I have built a WDS server using server 2012, and I have installed the relevant software, but I have also installed MDT on the same server.
All works fine.
However, I am finding the lines between using MDT for drivers, and the WDS for drivers somewhat blurred!
As I understand, MDT OOB drivers get added directly to the boot image so the basic driver required to get the deployed OS going are available from the very beginning. Such as RAID or other HDD drivers, or NIC drivers for example, and then the remainder should be positioned on the WDS in the folder/packages structure so each deployment can take what it needs, by using detection methods/querying the system during deployment.
I think it is told that it is possible to just use one or the other but I am not 100% certain. So would like to put it out there to you nice people to help me out!
Could someone please clarify the "usages" of both system and when they are employed, or even point me to a complete "tards" guid to driver in MDT/WDS.
