Ok, before I call microsoft support to handle this one, I thought I'd ask here just on the off-chance someone had an idea!
We used WDS to roll out Windows 7 across most of PCs with no problems.
Anyway, a machine got a fried hard disc so we replaced it and went to boot from WDS and it was not there.
We've had a couple of occurences before when WDS was just off, and we just needed to restart the service.
Now, though, after looking through the event log we get this:
Log Name: Application
Source: WDSServer
Date: 27/10/2010 10:47:42
Event ID: 513
Task Category: WDSServer
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: Belt.nevilleregistrars.com
Description:
An error occurred while trying to initialize provider WDSDDPS from C:\Windows\system32\wdsddps.dll. Windows Deployment Services server will be shutdown.
Error Information: 0x906
WDS itself fails to start afterwards, but I'm guessing its due to this WDSDDPS error.
Googling reveals absolutely nothing about wdsddps (other than original posts I made a year ago when this first occured.... Since then we've just been using normal Windows backups to re-image. Finally its gotten to the point where we need to fix things).
Its certainly nothing we have installed, so I assumed it was a default part of WDS but its not mentioned anywhere at all.
Anyone got any ideas?
