I have a production server that was part of a domain...The DC died and we decided to promote the remaining server to DC. I was able to log into the server with my domain acct since it was cached and local admin account. I went through the steps adding the roles told it to use my user acct set the restore password...When dcpromo finished it said my acct would remain intact but after the restart...NOTHING! it acts like it recognizes mine and the local acct but will not login :user ID or password are invalid"
My data is safe and I was able to pull the data off IF i had to start from scratch but I would rather not.
I have tried Offline NT password reset on the ultimate boot disc, I didn't have any luck with that either.
