I have been working on starting setting up two windows 2008 r2 servers. The other day I added groups and users for the company. There are 36 users and groups. Afterwards, I set up a hard drive for each of my 6 departments. I came across a problem when I tried sharing the hard drive and setting the permissions on them. I right-clicked any of the drives -> properties-> sharing -> Advanced Sharing... -> check box to "Share this folder" -> Permissions -> Add... -> Advanced -> Set the location to the correct place where the groups are and then click Find Now. Sometimes Windows will bring up a Log-In window for an administrator to log in, I'm already logged in as an administrator. After entering the correct information, another window comes up and says " The following error occurred while using the user name and password you entered: A local error has occurred."
After letting the search finish, the only users that come up are the Built-In ones. No other users or groups appear. If I un-check the built-in from Object Types, the search tells me there is a local error or the server isn't operational. The same thing happens when I go to the Security tab to add users/groups. Can someone please help me figure out why the users and groups that I've added aren't showing up.
