I was wondering how does the client naming policy know what the next name is, if the naming convention is incremental? Here's my dilema, I've been deploying a number of systems using the client naming policy to name the PCs, as follows PCs%03#, and its been going smoothly; however, recently there have been a couple of PCs that have died. I would like to deploy the new PCs, but instead of the WDS incrementing to the next value, I want it to take the name of systems that are down. I know I could enter the name in the XML, but I was wondering does WDS have the ability to identify the system is not in use and use that name. I've tried removing the names from AD and DNS but the WDS still goes with the next incremental value.
Any help would be great.
