I've recently updated the VAMT on a windows 2008 R2 server as we want to be able to authenticate windows 8 clients. Since installing it as part of the most recent Windows ADK our WDS Server has stopped and the service won't restart, even after a system reboot.
The error messages from the log are reporting "An error occurred while trying to initialize provider WDSDDPS from C:\Windows\system32\wdsddps.dll. Windows Deployment Services server will be shutdown. Error Information: 0xFFFFF8F0" and "An error occurred while trying to start the Windows Deployment Services server. Error Information: 0xFFFFF8F0".
Having scoured the internet I'm at a loss as no one seems to have encounterd anything like this before.
