I have setup a 2008 R2 server w/ WDS 2010 and I am trying to use WDS for PXE boot imaging. I will have numerous images to select from depending on the equipment type being imaged. I am currently using a WDSunattended.xml file for partitioning 5 drives, (system, reserved, winRE, OS and recovery image). The drives are partitioning fine and the images are being applied correctly. The problem I am having is I have no idea how to populate the system and recovery drives with the WinRE.wim, boot files and create a recovery image, etc.
I have been searching for days on this and the best I can find is this Technet article: http://technet.microsoft.com/library/hh825212.aspx which section 5.2 mentions how to do it through Diskpart, but also mentions the recovery image being done on the Specialized pass, but I can't find any details on that either. Is there a way to integrate a diskpart script into WDS? Or is there a better, faster way to do windows 8 imaging with PXE boot including all the system and recovery partitions?
Thank you!
