Editing .RWM file to free up space?

Hello all,

Does anyone know of a way to edit the res.rwm file, in an effort to fully remove images that are no longer required?

The way I understand things to be, is that all data which makes up an image is contained within this file, and referenced to by the image .wim file. However, deleting the install image file from WDS merely deletes this 'reference' file, and so the overall size of the res.rwm file remains the same. Is there a way to fully remove unrequired images, so I can claw back some hard disk space?

Whilst on the topic, if the above is not possible, then I need to see about hosting my existing images from a bigger disk. I am aware that this is possible. Does the remoteinstall folder for WDS have to reside on the original server itself, or can it reside externally (SAN, other machine)?

Many thanks.
