Hello all,
I am preparing for 70-411 exam and playing around with WDS. I am running Hyper-V on my machine
and hosting several virtual machines.
1st: DC with DNS&DHCP
2nd: WDS server
3rd,4th... blank machines ready for OS Deployment
Installing any OS (win10,7) with WDS is no problem and it all works fine. Once I try to setup multicast I
am lost. Any chance someone could give me an NOOBS guide? I have been messing around with settings
for hours. Installations start but in unicast every time. I believe that the problem is on my DHCP server.
I have a standard 10.10.10.x scope. Once I start any empty machine it will get an ip from it. I created a
multicast scope too but this has no effect. Machines still get a 10.10...ip. How can I force blank virtual
machines to get an address from multicast scope? Should I deactivate my 10.10.10.x scope? Then how
on earth would I do this in production? with lets say hundreds of machines running already.
I cant just deactivate a scope with machines on it or can I?
My DC has a fixed IP 10.10.10.1, WDS has a reservation 10.10.10.2 DHCP gives out addresses of
10.10.10.20 -> 10.10.10.50 and I have set up the multicast scope to the allowed max (224.0.1.0
to 239.255.255.255).Any help would be mostly appreciated
