Setup Windows 10 + Server 2012 R2 dual OS boot based on Windows 10 Recovery environment (RE).

Hello.

I have a Server 2012R2 and Windows 10 on different physical disks on the same computer without dual boot.

I want to do the following: Join Windows 10 and Server 2012R2 on a single disk with dual OS boot, while RE must be of Windows 10, not of Server2012R2.

I have a step sequence in mind and ask community to check what is possibly or definitely wrong, or should be taken into account, or should being aware of.

  1. Shrink a partition of Windows 10 and create new partition from released disk space.
  2. Clone data partition of Server 2012 R2 to the partition from step 1.
  3. Use bcdedit to copy Windows 10 entry and point it to Server 2012 R2.
  4. Something i forgot, misunderstand, don't know?

In short - what i am doing wrong or missing?

If Technet (or any other Microsoft or not resource) already has a step-by-step guide or another helpful topics how to do it, i'd be interested to know about them too.

Thanks.
