Hello,
I'm having troubles connecting clients to a WDS Multicast session. I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2 on a Dell PowerEdge 1850 and I am using a Netgear GS724T switch, which Netgear claims is able to handle multicast transmisions.
I can unicast without a problem, however, whenever I create a multicast session, clients do not connect. The clients simply continue as if they are unicasting. When I check the client list for the multicast transmission on the WDS Server, no clients are shown.
I am using the Windows 7 x86 boot image from the installation CD to PXE boot the machines.
In the WDS Server proberties under the "Multicast" tab, I have the "Multicast IP Address" setting set to "Obtain IP Address from DHCP." I have the DHCP server role running on the same server with the scope set to 192.168.2.10 - 192.168.2.100. My switch's
IP is 192.168.2.1 and my server's IP is 192.168.2.2. If I press "Shift + F10" on the clients after they boot (to open Command Prompt) and run "ipconfig," I see that the IP settings are all correct.
This is really perplexing me. I've searched online for hours trying to find a solution, but everything that I try fails. It seems like I am just 1 tiny step away from getting it to work.
Any help with my issue is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Wes Hampson
