Capture data from website into XML file for server deployment

Hi

I need to build a website that will capture computer data for server deployment and save it into an xml file. but I'm confused on what kind of website i need to build in order to save the data. so

first, what kind of web site, does it have to be?  asp, php.

do you know any sample sites that does this. ?
