Hi, I'm confused and need help!
I have recently setup WDS on our network.
I can successfully capture and deploy fat images silently with unattend answer files that join the pc to the domain.
I can modify the answer file to place the pc in an OU and name it using the amd64_Microsoft-Windows-Shell-setup-neutral component computer name but...
I have 10 computers that are already in AD DS named S1LTP1 to S1LTP10. I'd like WDS to keep these names when the computers join the domain in a multicast.
When I deploy a new image to one of these pc's it gives the pc a new name even if I have not entered one in the answer file which means I have 2 x Computer Objects in AD e.g. S1LTP01 and WINDOWS-B5FD5GC.
I have tried modifying the netbootguid to the Ethernet NIC mac address (inc 20 zeros), I have tried the same with the wireless NIC mac address.
I have deleted the existing computer object, removed it from DNS and IP lease then tried prestageing it in both AD DS and via WDS mmc aswell as wdsutil /add-device.
Is it not meant to do what I'm trying or have I missed something?
