trigger post sysprep generalize initial boot

A deployment that has had an initial boot after being sysprep oob generalized, the boot where pnp devices are detected and installed, if I were to mount the registry offline after that boot but before the oobe, what key pair would I modify to get it to boot in that "detect and install" phase again?

The reason I ask is that I have a vmware VM that I use as the master image, it uses the scsi controller "vmware paravirtual". I get everything installed the way I like it and then I uninstall vmware tools, sysprep oobe generalize it and shut it down. Then I clone the drive to a physical or another virtual drive and start that computer.

In the case of the physical computer, everything works fine. In the case of the virtual computer, if I change the scsi controller to LSI Paralell before the first boot, everything is fine. But leaving the scsi controller as "vmware paravirtual" and cloning it to another virtual computer or even booting that same computer up past the initial detect and install, i get a blue screen. I assume this is because the pnp detection does not have a driver for the disk controller "vmware paravirtual".

So If I have one of these vm's that wont boot into the oobe, assuming I mount that registry offline, what key pair would I change to get it to do the pnp detect install again?
