Hello. I'm installing Windows Server 2012 R2 on a machine that I previously had it installed on. I'm using a USB stick to do the install, which I created from an WS2012R2 DVD. I created the USB stick by using the Windows USB/DVD Download Tool.
When I did my first install in the machine I got the "Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration." error once after my first install attempt. I went into the bios and changed a setting that indicates what OS you're installing. After selecting "Windows 8.x", I was able to install.
Some time has passed since then and I now need to wipe that machine and start over. So, I confirmed that the bios OS setting was the same and tried to install from the same USB sick. This time I get the "Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration." and I get it every time now. I've tried installing many times, trying various settings in the bios and reverting bios to default settings. I've completely removed all partitions on the drive and even did a full (non-quick) format of the drive at one point. I've deleted partitions via the Window installer, I've also done it via DISKPART.
Nothing seems to work. It's strange that it installed before, but now with all the same variables (same drive, same USB Stick, etc) I cannot get it to install.
If any one has any advice, I'd much appreciate it.
