I just recently rebuilt our KMS server (actually upgraded from 2012 to 2012R2). And I just noticed now that workgroup machines (non-domain joined) cannot activate through this server. They point to it correctly (slmgr.vbs /skms, etc) but receive error code0xc004f038 which indicates a KMS server that did not reach its activation threshold. But all of our domain PCs activate without issue on the same server. slmgr.vbs /dlv on the server returns an activation count of 50.
I dug deeper and managed to get the "dlv" output for specific software (Office 2013 and 2016 to be exact) with the following commands :
slmgr.vbs /dlv 2E28138A-847F-42BC-9752-61B03FFF33CD
Both output a current count of 3! I keep activating and "re-arming" multiple PCs with different CMIDs and the count just doesn't go up. Is there a correlation between this count and my workgroup issues?
I am at a loss to figure this out right now and any help is appreciated! Will gladly provide whatever :)
