Hello,
I have installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on Virtual Machine (using .vdi file on Oracle VM VirtualBox) and the product key has been validated. Related to revalidation because of hardware profile I have few questions/clarifications.
1. If I create a clone of Virtual Machine, will my Product Key not work on existing VM?
2. Say I rebuild my host machine (Windows OS) and reinstalled VirtualBox. Then I use the same .vdi file in a new VM, will my product key still be valid? Or say will it be successful on revalidation. I dont have internal knowledge about mapping of product key with hardware profiles, so just trying to understand that part, from you experts.
3. Can I copy and use this .vdi file on another computer and still have valid product key? (one machine ON at one time)
4. Is there any way I can backup the vdi/vhd file along with hardware profile info and use it on any computer by restoring it (In my case, backup to be done after product key validation and in VirtualBox). Does the Product Key hardware profile is linked with host or guest machine when using NAT (network adapter)?
I dont want to lose my product key and want to take benefits of VM. Your help on this will be highly appreciated.
Regards
Santy
