WDS, migrated, path changed: can't find binlsvcdb.mdb

(Using Server 2008 R2 Standard, SP1)

We are using WDS that has a remote install directory that was migrated from an older server. The old server had a user data drive with drive letter D, but the new server has a user data drive of drive letter E.

The folder name for the WDS database files was also changed because the naming of the directory is nonspecific and mysterious, which is just stupid and unnecessary on Microsoft's part.

(Why do that? if a service data directory is for WDS, why not um like put the phrase "WDS" in the default name of the directory, such as "WDS-RemoteInstall"? I know, ridiculous suggestion. Meanwhile, the "deployment share" folder name for WAIK is dumb. Seems like WDS might use a name like that too? So that was renamed to "WAIK-DeploymentShare", too during the server migration, to reduce confusion for future reference. No problems with that.)

So anyway, I go into WDS Server properties on the new server and it says:

Remote installation folder: E:\WDS-RemoteInstall

But meanwhile the following error appears in the application event log about 170 times when the server reboots:

svchost (1868) ESE: An attempt to open the file "D:\RemoteInstall\Mgmt\binlsvcdb.mdb" for read only access failed with system error 21 (0x00000015): "The device is not ready. ".  The open file operation will fail with error -1811 (0xfffff8ed).

So, apparently although for the most part WDS works okay for me with the new directory location on a new drive letter with a changed directory name, this particular parameter is not being updated when the directory change was applied.

Is this fixable somehow? Perhaps I can hand-edit the parameter string for that directory path and repoint it to the new correct location.

Also, apparently this is a bug with WDS that should be reported to Microsoft for fixing?
