Windows Server 2008 R2 OEM Product Key becomes Retail Key

Hi,

I am a developer trying to deploy Windows Server 2008 R2 using Windows OPK.

The machine I prepare has the embedded OEM Product Key and Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool (MGADiag.exe) shows Product ID Type as:

3 - OEM System Builder

I strip out the Product Key by using command as per documentation:

c:\Windows\System32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /oobe /generalize /quiet /shutdown

After going through the hoops and installing the final image MGADiag.exe shows Product ID Type as

5 - Retail

What should the final Product ID be? Retail or OEM?

There is an entry point in the answer file to enter Product Key but I am not implementing OEM Activation and only have one Product Key I cannot use (as per License Agreement). So I have left it blank.

Thanks for looking

Regards

Carlo
